Midlands Textile Forum selected exhibition. 2008 saw the launch of our biennial selected exhibtion called COMMON THREADS. Michael Brennand Wood and Sian Martin were the selectors for this exhibition.  The exhibition was held at: The Leicester Creative Business Deport LCB Depot, Rutland Street, Leicester from Monday 17th November - Thursday 4th December 08.

 Our proposed event for 2010 has been postponed as we received a really wonderful invitation from Newcastle-under-Lyme Museum & Art Gallery to combine forces with Staffordshire University in mounting an exhibition of work based on our responses to the Betty Smithers Design Collection - an amazing eclectic mix of clothing, accessories and design greats - which will take place from 23rd July to 4th September 2011.  Our exhibition ‘Exotica’ - inspired by a study visit to the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, will take place from 4th -30th September at the Botanical Gardens.  Do come and visit us at both venues! 

Botanical Gardens inspiration opportunity & selected exhibition

Sketching days in 2009 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens provided the starting point for work for this themed, selected exhibition. With exotic plants imported from other lands all within the fabulous setting of the gardens, we are sure to be inspired on the theme of ‘Exotica’ defined as any rare and remarkable thing. These sketching days will lead to a selected exhibition to be hung in the main gallery at the Botanical Gardens from 5th -30th September 2010.
