Ann Paterson
A lifelong passion for history has always informed my textile art.
Two strands dominate: the story of women who have achieved greatness despite the odds, and current political affairs. Sometimes these collide and I have great fun illustrating in cloth how the world works from a female perspective.
My work is obsessively researched, as not only do I look at the life of the person, or the circumstances surrounding the event, but I also look at the textile context of the relevant times.
My current body of experimental work focusses on texture and colour and I am looking at ways this will change my work practice and send me in new directions.
Available for talks and workshops.
