I am fascinated by how simple lines of running stitch creates pattern, becomes meaning. My work has two distinct strands – nature and memory. Drawn to edges and borders, water, stones, lichen and ice, I use pattern and texture to explore a particular time and place. A trip to Antarctica in 2002 has been a major creative influence that still resonates in my work. I’m interested in what is passed down or handed on, the transference of memory through fabrics, stories and oral traditions using layers of fabric and thread to create a world I want to explore.
